GETTING STARTED

 

The best way to get started is by trying it out! If you're in the National Capital Region (Ottawa-Hull) we recommend reaching out to us either via our contact form or on any of our socials. We'll invite you to our practice so that you may see if this activity is a right fit for you.

Our group is best described as a cooperative effort between like-minded individuals. Consequently, there are no membership fees. However, all members must be registered with the FMCQ ($25/year), and contribute to the rental of gym space/training insurance (the amount which depends on total number of members and venue).

While our group does have a small amount of loaner gear, members are expected to purchase their own equipment within six months. A complete set will range from $2,000.00 for a good starter set to over $7,000.00 for a premium set. All armour and sports equipment must align with published rules and regulations as posted by the IMCF.

NOTE: Participating in medieval sports fighting comes with risk. Participants should be in sound physical and mental condition. If in doubt, speak with your healthcare provider. Additionally, participants must be 18 years of age or older, abide by club norms and deport themselves respectfully towards others. Dangerous or disrespectful behaviour will result in expulsion from the club. All members are required to complete a comprehensive liability waiver and a PAR-Q physical abilities self-assessment before participating in any club activity.
